INU

A plugdata VST3, LV2, CLAP or AU plugin for MacOS, Windows & Linux. It distributes stereo direct and diffuse content to 9.1.6, 7.1.4 or 5.1.2 ensuring 100% nulling when folded directly back to stereo again.

No demo is possible with plugdata plugins due to the open source concept so a full refund will be given for any reason if requested within 7 days of purchase. Please read the notes below before purchasing because plugdata is not universally supported by all DAWs or might require workarounds.

After Stripe Checkout you are now emailed a Google Drive share (no more passwords ;)

sam@demix.me if any problems.

Using INU / plugdata

plugdata is a free/open-source visual programming environment based on pure-data. It is available for a wide range of operating systems, and can be used both as a standalone app, or VST3, LV2, CLAP or AU plugin.

INU requires plugdata to be installed to use it. You can download the latest most up-to-date version of plugdata here.

To run INU, simply open the INU.pd file you downloaded from out Google Drive share here. You should have an email confirming the Google Drive INU folder has been shared with you to the email address entered at Stripe checkout. If you don't then get in touch as Stripe does not check email validity before payment.

Requirements

You must first install plugdata. You need a plugin host / DAW and it will need to support VST3, LV2, CLAP or AU plugins on a track/bus of ideally 16 channels without forcing a specific 16 channel format. Ideal DAWs are Reaper & Bitwig (enable multi-outs) which allow agnostic channel layouts/inserts. Plogue Bidule, Kushview Element (AAX option) and DDMF MetaPlugin (AAX option) might also work as a multichannel plugin wrapper within your DAW.

Alternatively you can use plugdata as a multichannel standalone app outside your DAW and then route stereo from the DAW through INU and return to your DAW that way as a loopback solution.

How Does It Work?

Your stereo input is separated and distributed according to its direct and diffuse properties. More direct signals are routed to the front L R C and more diffuse to surround and height speakers, however there is full control over the distribution and weight of the direct and diffuse sound around the space.

INU is classed a nulling upmixer, because if you simply fold the multichannel output from INU to Stereo again, it will null with the original input.

The signal distribution takes place in this order: Stereo In > -LFE Push > -Centre Push > Direct Push > Diffuse Push > Height Push & Front/Rear Diffuse Push > Multichannel Output

Future Plans

If you've purchased INU you will receive notification of each update to the email address used for payment. If this changes or you don't want to be emailed, let us know and we will update our records.

Future immediate plans for development are:

1. AAX, VST, CLAP and AU Compiled Versions (plugdata not required)

2. GUI-less versions. Lightweight versions of the above without a GUI, simple control from parameters.

3. Output routing matrix so not restricted to SMPTE or FILM layouts.

4. Solo buttons per channel

5. OSC Headtracking

6. Decorrelation and anti-correlation

6. More Immersive Formats
